Air conditioning has become an essential part of our life and help us remain cool and comfortable in the hot summer season. An air conditioner is a very useful appliance and is being used in most households and offices. Especially in the offices, where various technological equipment like computers, printers, fax machines, etc. are used which produce a lot of heat and an air conditioner helps to maintain the temperature of the surroundings by removing the hot air and replacing it with cool air. There are many parts of an air conditioner such as the evaporator, compressor, condenser, cooling coil, etc. The main part, which is also called the heart of the air conditioner is the compressor unit which is placed outside and helps to cool down the coolant or refrigerant. When the temperature of the air is reduced in an air conditioner, the coolant becomes hot and converts into vapor form. The coolant is then sent to the compressor unit where the compressor pressurizes the coolant and converts it into liquid form but still the temperature of the coolant is very high and needs to be cooled down. The hot liquefied coolant is then sent to the cooling coil. This is the place where all the coolant is cooled down and the hot air produced is removed. These coils are simply a device that transfers the coolant heat to the air and then the air is removed from the unit. A cooling coil which is also known as a condenser coil is a network of tubes through which the coolant flows and an internal chiller inside the coil cools down the coolant and then the coolant is again sent to the evaporator, to be used again for lowering the temperature of the air taken in by the air conditioning unit. The cooling coils are generally made up of copper or aluminum tubing with aluminum fins because both copper and aluminum are good conductors of heat and enable the system to remove the heat from the coolant easily and rapidly. The heat transferred from the coolant into the air surrounding the coil is removed and vented out with the help of the condenser fan. If in any case the cooling coil stop functioning or is damaged, it can easily be replaced but needs to be done by a professional to prevent any accidental damage to other parts of the conditioning system. These coils are easily available in the market and are manufactured by many leading air conditioning brands.
